Our Ethos
Funky Monkey Keyboard Classes has grown from 8 pupils to over 250 currently on the books, with well over 2000 children having experienced music the 'Funky Monkey' way. The company prides itself on having the personal touch with a 'hands on' director, experienced, dedicated teachers and an open mind to the way in which music is taught.
Music has the ability to bring children from many different backgrounds together. It gives them the freedom to explore sounds, rhythms and instruments, which in turn promotes confidence, co-ordination, dexterity and creativity.
Pupils at Funky Monkey Keyboard Classes learn and absorb at an astonishing rate. They are hungry for information and fascinated by the way in which they can learn familiar tunes. In our lessons there is no time to think about anything else except music, whether it be playing, writing or listening.
In a time where the focus in school is very much on literacy, numeracy and SATs tests, music is in danger of taking a back seat. Scientific tests have established a correlation between maths and music and it is thought that learning music over a period of time can lead to an improved memory. We like to encourage this with interactive, thought-provoking classes that develop a strong, all round technique, which will be invaluable to their future development.
