The Lessons at Funky Monkey Keyboard Classes
The unique way in which we have structured the class at Funky Monkey enables us to teach children how to read, write and play music, whilst incorporating games revolving around music theory. Here is a breakdown of the main features:
- We always offer a half price initial class (£6) to help you decide (without obligation) whether the classes are suitable for your child. (FREE intial class offer if you call between May-August 2010 for September 2010)
- After the half price trial, lessons cost £12.50 in our public centres, reduced to £10.50 for subsequent siblings enrolled. Classes are payable in advance at the beginning of each term
- Each hour-long class contains no more than nine children with one teacher. The entry age groups is generally between 5 and 8 years
- All children have their own keyboard set with headphones provided for class use.
- Book 1 of the unique Funky Monkey scheme is supplied free. After that, each book through to Book 5 carries a £3.50 charge. Each book contains 10 lessons. On completion of the course it is then possible to work towards a recognised exam, if desired. See 'The Syllabus' for a breakdown of the book content.
- Every step of the lesson is clearly explained, with demonstrations and board work.
- All musical tastes are catered for and explored! Pupils learn nursery rhymes, jazz, pop and classical tunes.
- 'Playalong' CD's to accompany each book are also available at an additional cost. They are an excellent 'out of class' resource for encouraging practice at home.
